Catalyst Classification

At Catalyst Services, two brands of screeners are utilized, ROTEX and Kinergy.

Kinergy Screeners use a gentle pitch and catch motion of the vibratory conveying surface that means less particle attrition than ordinary vibrating screeners.

A ROTEX Screener employs a near-level gyratory action that varies from a circular motion at the feed end to a longitudinal stroke at the discharge end. When material is fed into the ROTEX, the circular motion quickly spreads the material across the full width of the screening surface even though its fed from a single point. The horizontal circular motion immediately stratifies the material, causing the coarse particles to float to the top of the bed while the fines sink down against the screen mesh. Because of this, particles that are appreciably smaller than the mesh opening quickly pass through in the first part of the screen.

The conveying action of the ROTEX moves the material uniformly toward the discharge end of the screen. This is done without violent agitation, therefore the fines remain against the screen surface where they readily pass through. At the same time, larger particles are gently and steadily conveyed toward the discharge end, where the ROTEX longitudinal motion effectively removes the "near-size" particles. After screening, the graded materials are conveniently discharged through ports on the underside of the machine.

ROTEX Screeners employ a unique ball mesh cleaning system. The screen frames, to which the screen clothing is attached, are divided into pockets, which contain solid, resilient balls. The constant tapping of the balls against the underside of the screen surface keeps the screen alive and prevents clogging by actually dislodging particles that tend to stick in the mesh openings. The bouncing balls also provide gently agitation to aid particle stratification and to separate particles adhering to one another.

With a full complement of screens, Catalyst Services can separate materials ranging from particle size to 2 inches in diameter. Our screeners are totally encapsulated to assist in dust control as well as enabling N2 purging of sensitive materials. Vacuum systems are used to remove airborne dust form the screener and material containers.
